Meet and play against pairs of your level by taking part in the Mounier padel box. Every 2 months, a new ranking, a new challenge.

How it works, registration, rates and ranking rules, all in one clear guide.

What is it all about?

Matches organised in pools of 6 to 8 teams, called “boxes”, grouping pairs of similar levels. Players on their own or with a partner can sign up to take part.

Once the boxes are formed, you play according to your availability and that of your opponents within a period of 6 consecutive weeks.

How does it work?

Each pair is ranked in a “box” according to its level. When the boxes are launched, pairs can contact each other by joining the WhatsApp groups of the relevant box, or by phone. Match dates and times are set by mutual agreement and the results sent to padel@mounier.be.

An updated ranking of the current box is sent every 2 weeks to the box’s WhatsApp group. The WhatsApp group also serves as a place for exchange and for organising games between pairs.

At the end of the period and once the matches have been played, a ranking of the pairs is drawn up per box:

– the first 2 teams will leave the pool and move up to the higher BOX;
– the last 2 teams will drop down and move to the lower BOX;
– the others stay in the box;

Then it all starts again.

It is an excellent formula for playing regularly and improving by facing many different opponents of equivalent level, in a friendly and sociable atmosphere.

In practice?

The boxes are open to everyone (women and men), including beginners, young people, recreational members and non-members..

How do I sign up?

All pairs wishing to sign up must complete the online form HERE.

If you are on your own, that is possible too! Players on their own will be offered players of a comparable level to form a pair. Once the pair is formed, it commits for the duration of the box, namely 6 weeks or the period defined by the club.

Each pair already registered is automatically registered for the next series of “boxes”, unless they advise otherwise.

Your registration will be valid from the start of the next series.

The box periods are as follows:

– From 15 June to 25 October
– From 25 October to 17 January
– From 17 January to 18 April
– A break is organised from 18 April to 15 June

Ranking and how matches work …

Each match is played as best of three sets. The result of the match is sent to padel@mounier.be.

Players are ranked within their box according to the number of points won. The result of each match determines the number of points awarded to each player according to the following key:

A match played gives 1 point to each team
A set won gives 1 point to the winner
A forfeited match (injury, absence of the pair or of one of the 2 players) awards the victory to the team available to play the match, unless otherwise agreed between the players.

Please note

You cannot change partner during the box.
If a player is injured during a match and cannot continue, the victory is awarded to the other team.
When a match is scheduled and a pair (or part of a pair) does not turn up (forgetting, last-minute injury, traffic jams, …), the victory is awarded to the team present (3 points). The absent team gets 0 points. The match can only be rescheduled with the agreement of both teams.

At the end of the set period, a ranking is drawn up per box according to points:

The top 2 of the box are placed ahead of the bottom two of the higher box. The bottom 2 of the box are placed behind the top two of the lower box. On this basis a new strength list and a new division into boxes are defined.
In practice, if the number of players remains the same, the top two of each box move up to a higher box and the bottom two move down to the lower box. Depending on entries and exits, this situation may vary.

The aim for everyone is to progress and climb as high as possible in the boxes hierarchy.

A pair was never available and/or played no matches, what happens?

The boxes are organised to allow players who sign up to play matches. Consequently, if a team does not play one or more matches, registration for the next box period may be cancelled at the discretion of the Club’s Management. If the opposing teams offer dates, and there is no response, they may be credited with 1 point for the unplayed match. If a team has played no matches, no points can be awarded to the opposing teams.

What happens in the event of a tie at the end of the period?

In the event of a tie on points between two pairs, the result of their direct match will be taken into account.
Failing that, having not played their match, it is the total number of matches played that will decide the pair moving up, and then the total number of games conceded.
In the event of a tie on games conceded, a draw is made.

You are stopping with your partner and want to sign up with a new one?

In everyone’s interest we will try to place you in a box of your level, but without guarantees since we will respect the rankings established in the previous boxes.
If no solution is possible, then you will have to start the boxes again from the bottom…
